Vigilance sleuths on Thursday grilled former Tripura minister and sitting MLA from the Hrishyamukh constituency in South Tripura district Badal Choudhury in Agartala. The former Tripura PWD and finance minister Choudhury was summoned by the state vigilance department for inquiring into the irregularities and misuse of power while in the office in 2008-2009. According to reports, there was allegedly an irregularity of over Rs 800 crore in the PWD department during Choudhurys tenure. The inquiry has been initiated by the current state BJP-led state government. Last month, Choudhury was interrogated by a CID team over Agartala flyover irregularities case. After the interrogation on Thursday, Badal Choudhury said that he is ready to help the investigation team in every possible way. “What was done during the CPI (M) government in Tripura is unparalleled. The bridges and buildings constructed by our government will be there even in the next hundred years,” he said. The former minister also claimed that the Left government constructed black-top roads in every locality of state. “We did not hide anything from the public and even now there is nothing to hide. I am ready to answer any question,” he further said. He further alleged that his questioning is a part of a bigger political vendetta. Commenting on the arrest of former union minister P Chidambaram, Choudhury said, “Whether the former Finance Minister is guilty or not is yet under investigation.” “But the manner in which CBI is handling the case it clearly makes the impression of political revenge,” he further added.
