The death toll has increased to four in Bru refugee camps of Kanchanpur, North Tripura District. Two others have reportedly died earlier. Akoso Molsoi, age two years and son of Moniram Molsoi and Brishtirung Reang, age 65 and wife Ghoma Reang reported dead on Sunday. The Mizoram Bru Displaced Peoples Forum claimed that due to starvation they have died. The forum leaders told that since last couple of days they are not getting food and due to that the deaths have taken place in the camps. Also read: Bru refugees continue road blockade in Tripura They also claimed that the lactating mothers are also not getting the proper food and for this reason the kids are not get breast milk. SDM Abedananda was at the spot of road blockade but he also accepted that two more death reported from Bru camps. But he did not accept that they died due to starvation. According to the government sources, the medical team has reached the camps on Sunday afternoon and they have started their work. The medical team has started checkup of the camp inmates. Also read: Tripura MLA threatens to quit over Bru issue Meanwhile, the Bru refugees are continuing their agitation and road blockade programme on Monday also. On Monday, a CPI-M delegation led by former MP Jitendra Choudhury and Autonomous District Council chief executive member Radha Charan Debbarma is expected to visit the site. On Sunday local CPI-M leaders lead by former MLA of Kanchanpur went to the blockade spot and they expressed their solidarity towards the Bru agitators. From October 1 last the Central Government has stopped ration supply to the refugee camps. The central government has decided that they will not continue the refugee camps at Kanchanpur anymore. More than 35,000 Bru refugees are staying at different refugee camps of Kanchanpur since last two decade as the fled from the Mizoram due to ethnic clash with the Mizos. The ninth phase of repatriation has started from October 1 this year. Till now nearly 700 people were repatriated to Mizoram from Tripura.
