Tripura Former minister Badal Choudhury sent to judicial custody

A Tripura court on Friday sent former PWD minister Badal Choudhury to judicial custody in Rs 164-crore corruption case. Special judge Sabyasachi Dutta Purakayastha sent Choudhury to 4-day judicial custody till November 11. Choudhury was produced at the Special Judge's Court after the expiry of his police custody on Friday in the case. He said although the Tripura police sought Choudhury's custody for interrogation, the special court turned down the plea and sent him to judicial custody. Tripura police on October 30 arrested Choudhury from a hospital in Agartala in connection with the corruption case.

Special judge Sabyasachi Dutta Purakayastha sent Choudhury to 4-day judicial custody till November 11. The court allowed him to carry his medicines to jail. Choudhury was produced at the Special Judges Court after the expiry of his police custody on Friday in the case. Choudhurys counsel Purushottom Roy Barman said the former minister will be produced in court on November 11 again. He said although the Tripura police sought Choudhurys custody for interrogation, the special court turned down the plea and sent him to judicial custody. Tripura police on October 30 arrested Choudhury from a hospital in Agartala in connection with the corruption case. Choudhury was pulled out from his hospital bed and taken to West Agartala police station.
