Tripura government had decided to reopen all the tourist spots in the state from October 1. It was announced by Tripura tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Tuesday.

The tourist spots in the state have remained closed since March in view of COVID19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns. The state economy to some extent depends on tourism. State government has decided to reopen all the tourist spots from the first day of October.To boost the tourism industry, the state government has taken some decisions. Livelihood of people who are dependent on tourism have faced a crisis situation due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Aiming at promoting tourism in a big way, the tourism department is planning to construct a helipad near Dumbur Lake in Karbook sub-division.

Pranajit Singha Roy tourism minister said  “The tourists, who want to enjoy the beauty of Dumbur Lake, will be able to avail helicopter service. This will be a good bonanza for the tourists.”

Dumbur Lake in Chabimura area is one of the main tourist destinations in Tripura. Chabimura or Chobimura is famous for its panels of rock carving on a steep mountain wall on the bank of river Gomti in Tripura. It is located on the bank of river Gomati in Amarpur sub-division under Gomati district, nearly 100 km away from Agartala.

There is a huge water body at Chabimura, known as Dumbur Lake. The tourism department has introduced water scooter, floating jetty and speed boat at Dumbur Lake of Chabimura.

“Unakoti, Pilak, Neermahal, Chhabimura and Dumubur Lake could be a game-changer for the state’s tourism. Arrival of more tourists means more business for the local people. The department will help train the youths,” he said. The government wants to convert tourism sector into an industry to create job for the local people.
