Extremism in the Northeast is heading towards its end with the incidents of violence are declining, said President Ram Nath Kovind. “Today, insurgency in the Northeast is at an end and there has been a big reduction in incidents of violence. The youth wandering the path of violence are now returning to the mainstream of development and nation-building,” said Kovind on Friday while addressing members of both the houses of the Parliament. He said that the historic Bodo Accord has been implemented successfully besides the resettlement of Bru refugees. “The resettlement of Bru refugees is being completed with peace and harmony. Similarly, the historic Bodo Peace Accord has also been successfully implemented. After the agreement, this time the Bodo Territorial Council elections have also been successfully completed,” said the President. President Kovind said that additional forces have been deployed at LAC to protect Indias sovereignty. “In June 2020, 20 Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives in Galvan Valley to protect the country. Every countryman is grateful to the soldiers. My government is fully committed to protecting the interests of the country and is also vigilant. Additional forces have also been deployed to protect Indias sovereignty over the LAC,” Kovind said. President Kovinds customary address ahead of the Budget Session was boycotted by Opposition leaders of 18 parties, who skipped the event in solidarity with farmers protesting at Delhis borders against the three farm laws.
