Tripura Pradesh Congress takes out protest rally against ruling BJP

The Tripura Pradesh Congress has organized a rally in Agartala to protest against unemployment and alleged attacks on opposition party leaders by miscreants supported by the ruling BJP state government. Tripura Congress took out the rally on Friday despite the Agartala district administration imposing section 144 for 48 hours. Congress President Pijush Biswas said the p[arty obtained special permission from the administration to organize the rally. Congress leaders and party workers from the state as well as other regions gathered at the Netaji School in the city chanted slogans against the ruling BJP state government. In 2017, the per capita income of Tripura was Rs 1,00,444, he said.

They also carried out a huge procession in Agartala followed by a meeting in front of the Rabindra Bhawan. Assam Congress leader Susmita Dev said, “Tripura BJP is not ready to conduct Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections because they know that they will lose if they contest.” “BJP is losing their support base in Tripura and we should unite together to launch a movement against it,” she said. Meanwhile, while attending the Agartala Trade and Commerce Fair Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb compared the state government with the Trinamool government in West Bengal. He used various parameters to show that Tripura has advanced more in the last 32 months than West Bengal has done in the last ten years. Biplab Deb said “Mamata Banerjees government came to power in West Bengal about ten years ago and our BJP government came to power in Tripura before 32 months back.” “The per capita income of West Bengal at present is Rs 1,15,748, whereas we have been able to increase Tripuras per capita income to Rs 1,23,630 in just 32 months,” Deb said. In 2017, the per capita income of Tripura was Rs 1,00,444, he said.
