Panel recommends special grant of Rs 875 crore for Tripura

The 15th Finance Commission (FC) has recommended the central government to provide a special grant of Rs 875 crore to Tripura for five state-specific projects related to tourism development, an official release said on Thursday.

However, the total volume of gap grant for Tripura from the finance commission for the next five years has not yet been divulged. The Tripura government had demanded a pre-devolution grant of Rs 1.08 lakh crore for the period of 2020-25 during the visit of 15th FC headed by Dr N K Singh last year.

According to reports, the projects included development of seven district headquarters of gthe state, construction of ropeway at Mata Tripureswari temple and installation of light and sound show at Neermahal.

According to a release, the 15th FC has approved a grant of Rs 400 crore for the construction of two check dams at Champaknagar and Champaicherra to retain the water flow of River Haora and Rs 175 crore for ropeway and light and sound at tourism sites.
