Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to engage at least 8,000 volunteers for handling social media campaigns.
The party’s state president, Pijush Kanti Biswas, said the Join Congress Social Media programme has been launched to tell the “real stories to people”. Besides rural areas, young people do not have much interest in traditional media where strengthening social media would help the party.

“We have decided to hire 100 people from each of the 60 assembly constituencies and additional 1,000 volunteers from each of the Lok Sabha seats to bring unreported truths to the notice of people,” Biswas said, adding that those hired will receive training from experts.

“The campaign will continue for a month and will be followed by an assessment of the candidates and training of those shortlisted. Congress aims at having at least five lakh social media warriors from across the state. The volunteers will be appointed at all levels and they will highlight issues that go unreported,” Biswas added.
