Kathmandu is upset with Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb's 'BJP in Nepal' comment. Nepal has, in fact, 'conveyed a formal objection' over the comment of Tripura CM Biplab Deb. Tripura CM Biplab Deb, recently, had said that the BJP is trying to extend its footprints in Sri Lanka and Nepal and form Governments there too. Tripura CM Biplab Deb, recently, had said that the BJP is trying to extend its footprints in Sri Lanka and Nepal and form Governments there too. Biplab Deb on February 13, during an event had said that Union home minister Amit Shah had purportedly talked about plans to expand the BJPs influence in Nepal and Sri Lanka. Nepal Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali said, “Formal objection has been already conveyed.” Also read: Meghalaya: Transporters call-off strike On the other hand, Sri Lanka too has raised objection over the comments of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb. Sri Lankas Election Commission Chairman Nimal Punchihewa has shot down reports of BJP planning to set up a political unit in the island nation. He said that the countrys electoral law does not permit such an arrangement. “Any Sri Lankan political party or group is permitted to have external links with any party or group overseas. But our electoral laws do not permit overseas political parties to work here,” Nimal Punchihewa said.
