NLFT trying to revive strength in Tripura says DGP VS Yadav

Militant outfit NLFT has become active again and it is trying to revive its strength in Tripura, said the director general of police (DGP), VS Yadav on Wednesday. Tripura DGP Yadav said this during a book release function at the state police headquarters on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters, DGP Yadav said, “Three NLFT members were arrested on Tuesday. So, they are trying to increase their strength by extorting money,” the Tripura Police chief said.

Extortion notes and mobiles have been confiscated from them. The mobiles are being checked.” He said the purpose was to collect money from the companies involved in the construction of fences in the border areas. VS Yadav said police have arrested several overground members of the NLFT in the last few days on the basis of inputs from various sources. So, they are trying to increase their strength by extorting money,” the Tripura Police chief said. The DGP said, “Apart from NLFT, there are several other militant groups camping in Bangladesh. They can build understanding among themselves.” Yadav told reporters that those, who are backing the NLFT or maintaining relationships with them, “will not be spared”. Police will take action against the sympathisers, he said. The DGP released a book written by retired police officer, Parag Baran Roy.
