Agartala Railway police on Tuesday detained seven of 25 men who fled from a COVID Care Centre (CCC) at Ambassa in Dhalai district on Monday.

Agartala Railway police on Tuesday detained seven of 25 men who fled from a COVID Care Centre (CCC) at Ambassa in Dhalai district on Monday. The men, all migrant labourers, were employed in mobile tower construction in the district. The police launched a massive operation in search of them, in which the railway police has managed to detain seven people. An official informed about the matter on Wednesday and told that all these patients are migrant labourers.

The officer-in-charge of Ambassa police station, Himadri Sarkar, said that all the patients who fled from the Covid Care Center of Panchayat Raj Training Institute on Monday night are migrant workers, who had come from other states. He said that we have informed the incident to all the police stations. The railway officials have also been given information because they came here from other states. We have conducted a search operation to catch them.

Police said that after preliminary investigation, they suspect that 18 patients must have left the state after boarding the train. Officials said that on April 22, 31 patients had escaped from the Covid centre in the Arundhatinagar area of ​​Agartala. They came here from other states to give an interview for recruitment in Tripura State Rifles (TSR). Police said that their pursuit is also going on.
