Tripura cops bust border crossing racket

Baidya was caught by police using the Ghana national's help.Baidya confessed to being involved in the racket. During interrogation, he disclosed that he was travelling to Bangladesh without a visa and that he had been asked to contact Baidya on arrival at Agartala airport. Manchak formed a three-member team and alerted airport authorities to unearth the reason for this increased frequency. The special investigation team detained a Ghana national who had flown in from New Delhi at the airport last Friday. Sent to a three-day police remand by a local court, the accused Ajoy admitted to the charges against him.According to reports, as many as 13 Nigerians on their way to Bangladesh were captured recently by state police and BSF at the Belonia border.

AGARTALA: South Tripura district police , led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Ipper Manchak Dnyanoba , has cracked down on a racket operating on the India-Bangladesh border at Belonia which facilitates travel of illegal African nationals from India to the neighbouring country through the state.According to Manchak, based on secret information, police arrested Ajoy Baidya of South Bharat Chandra Nagar village along with a small vehicle, which has reportedly been used to ferry illegal citizens from Agartala airport to the southern border of Tripura with Bangladesh.
