"The minimum pay scale has been approved at Rs 14,040 in comparison to existing Rs 6,240. Trinamool Congress president Ashis Kumar Saha said the hike is "mere eyewash" as the hike is a meagre one. The maximum scale will be revised at Rs 1,17,000 from the existing amount of Rs 52,000. We demand that the chief minister implement the recommendations of the 7th CPC like other states," said BJP spokesperson Ashok Sinha. Similarly, the benefit will also be extended all categories of employees including 9000 fixed pay and DRW and 60,491 pensioners and their family," Saha said.

AGARTALA: The Left Front government in Tripura on Tuesday hiked the pay and pensions of 2.44 lakh state government employees by 19.68% with a uniform fitment factor of 2.25% to the existing salary with effect from April 1 this year.Announcing the decision, finance minister Bhanu Lal Saha said that though the state government did not implement the revised pay structure of 7th Central Pay Commission, this salary hike was over 5% more than that in the central government. The state government has also announced that the fourth Saturday of each month will be a holiday, in addition to the existing holiday on the second Saturday of each month, Saha said. The finance minister said the average increase of monthly pay for Group D employees would be Rs 3,932. It would be Rs 5,499 for Group C employees, Rs 9,477 for Group B officers and Rs 15,006 for Group A officers, amounting to an additional expenditure of Rs 1,189 crore annually for the state government.Saha, however, said the government has increased the medical allowances for Group C and D categories from Rs 250 to Rs 500 per month while the highest ceiling of house rent would be Rs 3,000 instead of the existing amount of Rs 2,000 every month."The minimum pay scale has been approved at Rs 14,040 in comparison to existing Rs 6,240. The maximum scale will be revised at Rs 1,17,000 from the existing amount of Rs 52,000. Similarly, the benefit will also be extended all categories of employees including 9000 fixed pay and DRW and 60,491 pensioners and their family," Saha said. He further said that the minimum pension has been increased from Rs 3,120 to Rs 7,020 while maximum pension has been increased from existing Rs 38,500 to Rs 1,05,720.Opposition BJP and Trinamool Congress, however, criticised the move and said the hike was unsatisfactory. "Even after the hike of the pay and pensions, a state government employee in the lower strata will be getting less than half of what a similar employee at the Centre gets. We demand that the chief minister implement the recommendations of the 7th CPC like other states," said BJP spokesperson Ashok Sinha. Trinamool Congress president Ashis Kumar Saha said the hike is "mere eyewash" as the hike is a meagre one.
