Flood loss in Tripura over Rs 121 crore: Government

AGARTALA/ITANAGAR: The state has incurred an estimated loss of over Rs 121 crore in last month's floods in West Tripura, Khowai and Sepahijala districts, state revenue department officials said here on Saturday. The government has been providing Rs 95,000 to houses that were fully damaged, Rs 50,000 to those severely damaged and Rs 3,000 for partly damaged houses.An emergency meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority decided to sanction Rs 14.20 crore as compensation for the entire state. Officials said crop damage is estimated to be around Rs 37.53 crore. On the other hand, Bhalukpong and adjoining areas in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh are flooded following heavy rain since Friday morning. The process of giving compensation has already started apart from emergency relief funds.

Officials said crop damage is estimated to be around Rs 37.53 crore. According to official statistics, the government had started 87 relief camps where 10,659 families were sheltered twice during floods.Officials said 92 houses were fully damaged and 3000 partly damaged in the deluge. The process of giving compensation has already started apart from emergency relief funds. The government has been providing Rs 95,000 to houses that were fully damaged, Rs 50,000 to those severely damaged and Rs 3,000 for partly damaged houses.An emergency meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority decided to sanction Rs 14.20 crore as compensation for the entire state. Officials said they will seek assesistance from the Centre to cope with the losses. On the other hand, Bhalukpong and adjoining areas in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh are flooded following heavy rain since Friday morning. The main market area of the township, located near the checkpost, was submerged due to choked drains. Businessmen and local residents of the area are facing a lot of problems due to the flash floods. Personnel from fire and emergency services were pressed into service for evacuating people affected by floodwaters.Extra Assistant Commissioner Tamo Riba ordered closure of all educational institutions and directed all head of departments to utilise all resources in rescue and restoration work. Circle officer Khoda Rakhi, with the help of police personnel and fire and emergency services personnel, rendered their support in evacuating people from Koilabhati, Upper Bhalukpng, Model Village, Bhalukpong Bazarline and Lower Bhalukpong.
