BJP will unseat Left in Tripura: Ram Madhav

AGARTALA: BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday reiterated that his party would unseat the Left Front government in the state assembly elections in February next year.After holding meetings with BJP state leaders regarding organisational activities ahead of the crucial assembly election, Ram Madhav said CPM has resorted to terror tactics on opposition supporters fearing defeat. BJP will be an instrument merely," he observed. "The way CPM leaders got involved in the college council election and indulged in violence across the state against ABVP supporters , made us believe that the party has lost respect for democracy and the people of Tripura. Chief minister Manik Sarkar has made the police redundant and cadres are running the administration, he added. This time the elections will be a battle for change in true sense.

They cannot accept the existence of an opposition, which is important in the Indian system," he told the media.Ram Madhav warned CPM that BJP would not allow violent politics for power and to establish rule of law, they would request the Central government to restore peace and a democratic ambience in Tripura. "There may be instigations for creating unrest before the elections but party leaders, supporters and the people must show tolerance," he told the media after reviewing the situation at Nalchar in Sonamura where at least eight people, including six BJP men and a police officer, were injured in an alleged attack by CPM workers last evening.He accused CPM leaders and the LF government of instigating the situation for narrow political gains. Chief minister Manik Sarkar has made the police redundant and cadres are running the administration, he added. "There will be no 'match-fixing' in the name of elections. This time the elections will be a battle for change in true sense. And the people are determined to oust the Marxist government for its misrule. BJP will be an instrument merely," he observed.
