Agra: A man allegedly shot a 22-year-old woman in the head after she refused to marry him. The crime was committed on Tuesday morning in Islamnagar area under Amapur police jurisdiction of Kasganj district. The woman, Afsana, is in critical condition at the ICU of a government hospital in Aligarh.The gunman, Sakeer, 23, allegedly barged into Afsana’s house with three other men, and started forcing her to agree to marry him. When Afsana refused, he allegedly shot her in the head with a country-made pistol and fled.Pehelwan Singh, station officer of Amapur said, “Sakeer and Afsana had known each other for a long time. On Tuesday, when Sakeer came to know that Afsana was engaged to be married to another man of her parents’ choice, he took a country-made pistol, entered her house and shot her.”Based on the written complaint of Afsana’s elder brother Nasir, police booked Sakeer for attempt to murder along with three other men, who had been identified as Zakir, Samim and Raju.Speaking to TOI, Nasir said, “At the time of the crime, my wife and Afsana were alone in the house. Afsana was hit in the head and she is now in coma.”“Sakeer is unemployed and has a criminal nature. Two days ago, he passed lewd comments on my sister, after which we complained to his parents. He is now on the run.”On July 5, 2017 in Etah district, a 21-year-old man shot a school-going girl, supposedly his girlfriend, in full public view after a heated argument, and later turned the gun on himself.
