Agra: A GRP constable was arrested by anti-corruption wing, after he was caught red-handed for taking bribe of Rs 40,000 from a railway vendor.Identified as Alok Gautam, the constable was posted at Tundla station. He was charged under the prevention of corruption act.A trap was set up by the team of ACW lead by inspector Rajeev Yadav against constable Gautam after several railway vendors of food stalls lodged complaints against him and station house officer Rajkamal Singh.“The railway vendors had alleged that constable Gautam on the behest of inspector Rajkamal Singh, was extorting Rs 1 lakh per month as bribe from Tundla railway station food stall vendors. If refused, the cops would threaten vendors with fake FIR to halt their business. Hence, a team was set up to catch the accused men,” said ACW sleuth.Speaking to TOI, senior superintendent of police, GRP Agra division, Nitin Tiwari said, "Prima facie the charges against the constable and his senior SHO Tundla are found to be true, hence both of them have been suspended. Further, a departmental inquiry has been set up in the case, if more men are found involved in alleged bribery, then respective cops would be suspended as well."
