Basic Education teachers raises issue of dilapidated school buildings

Teachers have expressed concerns over potential mishappenings in the upcoming rainy season, due to the dilapidated school buildings. Agra: Teachers of the primary education schools have shown concern over the dilapidated buildings, lack of proper toilet facilities and safety of school girls. Girls avoid relieving themselves as they have to go out in the open owing to the unavailability of the toilet,” she said. They have met the administrative officials and apprised the Basic Shiksha Adhikari, Agra for betterment of the school buildings.They have identified 26 schools in the city, the buildings of which are in a poor state and have no basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, toilets and also lacks safety for the girl students. Most of them are in poor stage and can collapse in heavy rain.There are around 2 lakh 34 thousand students enrolled with the department in Agra in both upper primary and upper primary schools, and around 2086 primary and upper primary schools in Agra District.According to the head teacher of the Girls Junior High School in Idgah locality, Nidhi Srivastav, “The school building is not safe, as it is weak and miscreants roam outside the school building during school timing.”“The school building has no toilet and drinking water facility.
