Agra: The bullet ridden bodies of a young couple, Babita Sharma (22) and Dinesh Singh (24), were found lying in a vacant house in Mathura on Wednesday morning. Though police suspect the duo might have killed themselves in a suicide pact, the girl’s kin alleged that they were murdered by the man’s family, who didn’t approve of their relationship and was against them getting married.Police officials said that the bodies were recovered in a house adjacent to Babita’s residence. They were discovered by some neighbours, who, after hearing gunshots at around 4:30 am, alerted police. When cops reached the spot, they found the bodies in a pool of blood with a country-made pistol lying nearby.Police officials, finding vermillion on the girl’s forehead, suggested they might have got married just before taking the extreme step. While Singh, originally a resident of Maant area, stayed with his uncle near Krishna Vihar Colony, the girl lived with her mother in the same locality.Superintendent of police (city), Shrawan Kumar Singh said, “We have recovered a country-made pistol and empty cartridges from the spot. The bodies have been sent for post mortem and further investigations are on. Prima facie, it appeared to be a suicide but since the girl’s mother, Kamlesh Sharma, has accused the boy’s family of murdering the couple, we are making inquiries.”Couple suicides are not new in Agra. Two days ago, a young couple hanged themselves from a tree in Aligarh as their parents wouldn’t let them get married. In January, another couple threw themselves in front of a speeding train.
