DVVNL tops list in recovery of pending dues in Agra zone

Managements of discoms need to take it seriously.”Staff officer, DVVNL, SK Baghel said, “DVVNL has made record recovery of outstanding power dues. We have received good response to our recent announcement of rewarding informers regarding power theft. During the same period, PVVNL’s revenue recovery was Rs 221.49 crore in April, 2015.68 in May and 220.85 crore in June. But it lagged in action against power theft.

Agra: State-owned power distribution company of Agra zone, Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited ( DVVNL ), has made highest revenue recovery of outstanding power dues in the first quarter of the financial year —2018-19. But it lagged in action against power theft. The power distribution company of Meerut zone, Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), has detected maximum number of cases of power theft and took punitive action against the culprits.According to a report prepared by the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), out of the four major discoms — DVVNL has attained first position for revenue recovery. The PVVNL was placed at second place while Madhyanchal (MVVNL) covering Lucknow zone was third and Purvanchal (PUVVNL), covering Varanasi zone, was at fourth place.In April, DVVNL’s revenue recovery was to the tune of Rs 280.20 crore. In May, it was Rs 276.57 crore followed by Rs 328.42 crore in June. During the same period, PVVNL’s revenue recovery was Rs 221.49 crore in April, 2015.68 in May and 220.85 crore in June. The MVVNL and PUVVNL lagged as compared to top two discoms.According to the UPPCL report, in the month-long campaign started on June 6 against power theft, PVVNL had identified and taken action in 1,152 cases. DVVNL managed to find 377 cases of power theft, MVVNL 369 and PUVVNL 286 cases of theft.A senior UPPCL officer said, “All the four discoms are facing heavy losses on a daily basis due to power theft. In this regard, strict action is required. Managements of discoms need to take it seriously.”Staff officer, DVVNL, SK Baghel said, “DVVNL has made record recovery of outstanding power dues. In detecting cases of power theft we are at second place. We are still continuing with the campaign against the power theft. We have received good response to our recent announcement of rewarding informers regarding power theft. After verification of complaints suitable action will be taken.”
