Agra: Agra Smart City Private Limited is going to issue work order for beautification of Fatehabad road and upgradation of major crossings. The road is the main thoroughfare to the Taj Mahal and tourists from both within the country and abroad throng this road all day long.According to sources, the work is estimated to cost Rs 98.70 crore and will be fully funded under the smart city project scheme. A contractor for the project has already been selected. It has been asked to make a security deposit of Rs 4.68 crore. The ground work is likely to begin by end of this month.Earlier in the month, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had expressed displeasure over delay in ground implementation of smart city project works. After this, the officials concerned swung into actionAccording to chief executive officer of Agra Smart City Private Limited Arun Prakash, the Fatehabad road work plan includes development of a modern drainage system, structuring of footpath and road dividers, plantation of variety of saplings, decorative illumination and several other infrastructural works.Under the area-based development plan, Agra smart city project will focus on development of the vicinity around Taj Mahal. That is why a plan for beautification of Fatehabad road has been prepared. All the major crossings on the road will undergo theme-based makeover, said the CEO.Besides beautification works, a street vending zone is planned to be developed on Fatehabad road.
