Agra: A train ticket examiner ( TTE ) of the Allahabad-Jaipur Express was suspended by railway authorities on Thursday after he was booked for attempting to outrage a girl’s modesty on the train.According to police, the incident took place around 2 am on Wednesday when the 18-year-old girl was travelling with her friend from Allahabad to Jaipur on a RAC (reservation against cancellation) ticket. Accused TTE Nanak Singh, 50, had allegedly misbehaved with her when she requested him for a berth. The girl is a resident of Ballia.Singh, who is currently posted in Agra division, was booked under IPC section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) by the Kanpur Central government railway police (GRP) on Wednesday.The crime took place in the B3 coach of 12403 (Allahabad-Jaipur Express), between Fatehpur and Kanpur Central stations. After the incident, the victim made a distress call to the GRP control room while some of her fellow passengers detained the TTE and handed him over to police at Kanpur Central station.Rahul Gautam, station house officer (SHO) of GRP Kanpur Central, said, “The train had to be halted for over an hour. An FIR was later filed against the TTE.”“In her complaint, the girl said that Singh had asked her to wait in his berth while he inspected tickets of other passengers.
