Agra: Samajwadi Party president and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday targeted the Yogi Adityanath government for failing to curb crime in the state. “The law and order situation in UP has worsened. Imagine the kind of crimes against women taking place in other parts of the state. “They are laying the foundation stone for Purvanchal Expressway and inaugurating other projects like the Samsung factory in Nodia. The CM came with a broom to clean the City of Taj and complained about high pollution levels in Yamuna, but nothing changed.

Agra: Samajwadi Party president and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday targeted the Yogi Adityanath government for failing to curb crime in the state. “The law and order situation in UP has worsened. There is a sense of chaos and people are feeling insecure. Even jails are not safe as inmates are being shot dead in broad daylight. The crime graph has touched its peak. The situation hasn’t been so bad since independence,” he said.Akhilesh, who was in Agra to offer his condolences to former SP national general secretary Ramjilal Suman, who lost his wife recently, cited the case of Sanskriti Rai, a 20-year-old polytechnic student who was looted and murdered by four men in Lucknow last month. “A girl who was returning home was brutally killed in the state capital. Imagine the kind of crimes against women taking place in other parts of the state. Under the BJP rule, women are more insecure than ever before,” he said.“If the government decides, it can change the law and order situation by improving the Dial 100 facility. They just need to provide good and efficient leadership to Dial 100,” Akhilesh said, while blaming the BJP government for taking credit for work done during the SP regime. “They are laying the foundation stone for Purvanchal Expressway and inaugurating other projects like the Samsung factory in Nodia. We had started these works. Due to our sustained efforts, UP witnessed development.”The former CM also credited his government for constructing the Agra-Lucknow expressway in record time. “The corruption levels in the government have sharply risen. The CM came with a broom to clean the City of Taj and complained about high pollution levels in Yamuna, but nothing changed. One can easily spot piles of garbage here,” he said.
