UP: 2 electrocuted in Agra, Etah; locals protest for three hours

The incident took place at around 12:30pm.After the incident, local residents and victim’s relative staged protest and blocked Fatehabad-Agra road with tractors and motor-bike for three hours . After police and sub-divisional magistrate Nalani Kant Singh intervention, the local residents opened the blockade.According to police, the SDM assured the victim’s family for monetary compensation. The agitated locals armed with clubs also broke the windshield of a van, which came to take the victim’s body to the mortuary. Station house officer of Fatehabad, B R Dixit said, “No violence or vandalism occurred. The victim’s family has not given any written complaint against the local engineers or electrician of DVVNL.”Meanwhile, another man was electrocuted to death in Etah district.Identified as Vijay Kumar (35) of Maharana Pratap Nagar of Nagar Kotwali jurisdiction, the victim was killed in his home, when he came in contact of 420 volt current, while attempting to plug in the water-pump wire in a socket.
