Agra: Following poor rating of performance of four major state-owned power distribution companies by the Power Finance Corporation (PFA), state power minister Shrikant Sharma on Friday tasked the discoms to attain top 10 ranking over the next two years.Informing the State Power Consumer Council in this regard, the minister assured it of fixing responsibility of top management of discoms to bring about a positive change. Chairman of the consumer council Avadhesh Kumar Verma also handed over a memorandum to the minister, demanding an improvement plan.Four of the five distribution companies in UP were given ‘C’ grade for operational and financial performance capabilities.Verma said, “We have raised questions with the minister regarding over Rs 100 crore expenditure on services of private consultants. Assessment of their role should be made. A state-level improvement plan should be developed. It should have responsibilities defined for top management of discoms. In public interest, action should be taken against senior officials not able to deliver on the ground in a time-bound manner. The minister has assured us of suitable action on our demands.”
