Mathura family stages kidnapping of 3 year old to escape wedding expenses

Agra: Mathura police on Friday rescued a three-year-old boy, whose kidnapping was allegedly plotted and executed by his own relatives to escape wedding-related expenses.The ‘tilak ceremony’ of the boy’s cousin sister had been scheduled for Wednesday, but the family decided to avoid the expenses by staging the abduction of the child to gain sympathy of the groom’s family, according to the police.The boy, Aman, had come from Ludhiana to attend the wedding, which was slated for Friday. However, he became the victim of the plot hatched by his cousin’s family, who thought that his kidnapping would help them skip the ceremony and proceed straight to the marriage function, said the police.According to the police, Aman’s uncle and brides’ father Suresh had informed the police and the grooms’ family about the abduction around 4 pm on Wednesday. The man spotted in the footage was identified as Suresh’s nephew, Kanha alias Krishna, said police.During an inquiry, Suresh’s neighbour told the police that he saw the child with Suresh’s relative on the fateful evening.Police then scanned the call detail records (CDR) of Suresh and his other family members, and finally rescued the child from Garun Govind area of Vrindavan.SP (city) Shrawan Kumar Singh said a case of kidnapping has been registered against four people— Suresh Sharma, his elder brother Mahaveer Sharma, sister’s son Krishna and wife’s brother Giriraj— who are absconding
