District administration vows green Kanwar Yatra this year

We have decided to minimise the use of plastic during the yatra this year. Officials have been assigned responsibilities in this regard. AGRA: In the wake of the recent plastic ban in the state, the district administration has decided to make Kanwar Yatra , beginning on July 28, a clean and eco-friendly one this year.According to officials, the Uttar Pradesh government has directed civic body authorities to maintain high levels of cleanliness on the pilgrim routes and around temples. The managements of major Shiv temples and local kanwar committees have been asked to switch to green products like leaf plates to serve food to the pilgrims.”“Essential amenities like rest houses, toilets, drinking water and basic medical facilities will be made available along the yatra route,” he added.On Saturday, UP DGP OP Singh had stated that helicopters and drones would be used for crowd management and monitoring of yatra routes to ensure smooth and steady movement of devotees
