UP school text books get Vajpayee’s date of birth wrong

Principal secretary (basic education) Prabhat Kumar said, “I have instructed the department to scrutinise all books for factual errors and, if any are found, to rectify them. Action will be taken against whosoever is responsible for the error in Atalji’s date of birth.”The book contains Vajpayee’s motivational poem ‘Aao Phir Se Diya Jalaye’ in the last chapter (21), which has been introduced in schools for the first time. The authorities should make all efforts to make text books free of error.”Giving a political twist to the matter, secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vivek Bansal said, “BJP is in the habit of distorting history, whether it’s about the country or its own leader.”BJP state spokesperson Chandramohan said that it must be a printing error and would surely be rectified after the matter was inquired into.
