Agra: Leading physicians and surgeons from all over the country discussed advances in surgical oncology and radiation relating to various forms of cancers in head and neck, spine, breast, rectum, liver, pancreas, appendix, kidney and bladder at a “Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme on Oncology” organized by the department of surgery, J N Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University ( AMU ), in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Hospital, New Delhi on Thursday.Discussing the old and new modalities of treating various forms of cancers, Dr Leena Dadhwal. a senior consultant, surgical oncology, said the accuracy of diagnosis and the effectiveness of the treatment plan are often the main causes of concern for the patient as these play a critical role in determining the treatment journey and its final outcome.Doctor Kundan Singh Chufal, senior radiation oncologist, delineated latest radio-therapeutic management of cancers in pre-operative and post-operative stages using IMRT, IGRT and Stereotactic body radiotherapy techniques.Senior consultant, head and neck surgical oncology Dr Mudit Agarwal delivered a talk on how robotic surgery for different head and neck cancers is different from other surgeries.
