Etah police raids illegal arms factory, nabs one

Our objective is to shut down all illegal arms factories ahead of general elections, slated to be held next year.”On September 10, Mirhachi police of Etah, raided an illegal arms factory and nabbed an arms smuggler along with five pistols. Agra: Etah police raided a third illegal arms factory this month and nabbed one person besides seizing a dozen countrymade pistols from him.In a joint operation by SWAT and Jaithra police, a raid was conducted in the forest area of Nagla Narayan village on Saturday morning at around 6:30 am. An illegal arms manufacturer and smuggler, identified as Shabir Khan, was apprehended for running the illegal factory.The police seized eight pistols of .315 caliber, two pistols of .12 caliber and one revolver along with cartridges and instruments used in making of countrymade pistols.According to the superintendent of police, Etah, Ashish Tiwari, “The team which raided the illegal arms factory has been awarded Rs 15,000 cash. On September 4, Etah police busted another illegal arms racket near Veernagar station under Awagadh police and arrested four men along with a dozen weapons.On September 2, in neighbouring Kasganj, police arrested three men along with 27 weapons in Sidhpura police jurisdiction.On September 11, in a joint operation by SWAT and Patiyali police of Kasganj, busted an illegal arms factory and arrested two men with nine pistols, one rifle, 11 semi-made pistols and four cartridges along with instruments used in making of countrymade pistols.
