Aligarh encounter: Congress, AIMIM demand CBI probe

They also demanded that a case should be registered against the policemen involved in the encounter.Talking to media, former Congress MP from Aligarh, Chaudhary Bijendra Singh said a CBI probe should be ordered into the encounter case as there were enough reasons to doubt police’s claims. AGRA: The Congress party and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen ( AIMIM ) workers took out a protest march on Monday and demanded a CBI inquiry into the last week’s encounter of two alleged criminals, Mustakim and Naushad.They submitted a memorandum to President of India through the local administration demanding a probe and the suspension of the SSP Aligarh in order to ensure a fair inquiry. He said besides a high level inquiry into the encounter, a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each should be paid the families of the youth killed in the encounter.Ali said, “We will sit on hunger strike if our demands are not met within 24 hrs”. He said there is fear among the public to speak against the police, as they feel that their voice could be suppressed.Referring to the police’s move to send a notice to him to join the investigations, he said, “Even they were trying to target me after 34 years of my political carrier”.Aligarh police had recently stated that a notice under section 160 of the CrPC could be issued to Singh as he had questioned the veracity of police action like former Samajwadi party MLA and BSP leader Zameerullah Khan, who had already been issued the notice in this regard.AIMIM’s Youth state Secretray, Syed Nazim Ali claimed that the encounter was “fake”.
