AGRA: A week after senior Bahujan Samaj Party BSP ) members of Hathras district unit allegedly attended a private function and greeted Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya during her visit to the district, the party expelled all three of them.The three expelled leaders are district zonal coordinator Lalaa Babu, district general secretery J P Sagar and district unit president Dr R C Gola. The three were expelled on Sunday.Speaking with TOI, Bharatendu Arun, district president of Agra district , said, “The three have been expelled for attending a private function and greeting Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya in Hathras on September 29.”Vehemently denying that he met the governor, Lalaa Babu, who had been a party member for the past three decade, said, “I never attended the function and greeted the Uttarakhand governor. There is no evidence to prove this. It is a conspiracy hatched by my rivals, who want to harm me and the party ahead of 2019 election.”J P Sagar said, “I have been a party worker for over three decades and never got an opportunity to contest an election. On the other hand, the BJP-led Narendra Modi government is awarding prestigious posts to leaders who hail from our community. This gives us hope for uplift of the community. BSP has to rethink on its approach, as people have dedicated their lives to tis party and still the party command does not recognize their efforts.”An ophthalmologist, Dr Gola, who is the former district president, said, “There is nothing wrong in greeting a state governor. I met her in my personal capacity. The party must revoke its decision. I have been a dedicated member for over two decades.”Meanwhile, an alleged picture of a former Hathras unit district president B D Singh along with BJP vice- president Dushyant Gautam has been widely circulated on social media, triggering speculation that Singh may join BJP.Speaking with TOI, BD Singh clarified, “I never met BJP vice-president and neither know him. The picture is a fake.”On Sunday, BSP also expelled former MLA of Koil, Zameer Ullah Khan, and relieved Hemant Pratap Singh, of all party duties for going against party line.
