But the idea backfired and he landed in jail.Five months back Surendar Yadav (45), a resident of Kesarpur village close to Jaithara and Jasarathpur, bought a 70kg Hanuman idol from Aligarh’s Sadar market and quietly buried it in his field.On Tuesday, Yadav hired some labours and started digging the field on the pretext of building a grocery shop. As the labourers started digging the field to lay the foundation of a shop, one of them hit the metal idol with a spade, which triggered excitement among the men present there.Airing the excitement, Surendar quickly announced that the idol was an antique of Lord Hanuman made up of gold. Soon the news spread like wildfire in neighbouring villages of Jamalpur and Pinjari.Speaking to TOI, a local resident Vijay Pratap Singh said, "Scores of villagers rush to see the idol with incense stick, coconut and flowers to offer prayers. People even started donating money to build a temple and around Rs 75,000 was collected in a couple of hours.
