AGRA: A 17-year-old boy, who allegedly abducted and killed his tenant’s minor son to demand a ransom of Rs 20 lakh for buying an iPhone for his girlfriend was arrested by Mainpuri police on Wednesday.The accused killed 14-year-old Abhishek and buried his body in an under-construction house just 200 metres from the former’s residence. According to police, the teenager abducted Abhishek on Tuesday while the latter, a class VI student, was going for his Maths and English coaching class. Abhishek’s mother received a ransom call for Rs 20 lakh the same evening.According to police, Abhishek and his parents had been staying as tenants in the house of a private bus company’s conductor for the last three months. The victim’s father, Sarvesh Yadav, works as a contractual driver with the same company.On Tuesday, after Abhishek did not return in the evening, his parents began looking for him. Sarvesh said, “Abhishek’s tuition teacher told us he did not come for class. My son’s friends told us the same thing.”Meanwhile, Abhishek’s mother Mamta Devi, an Anganwadi worker, received a call on her mobile and the person demanded Rs 20 lakh for Abhishek’s release. Sarvesh got a similar call a short while later. “I told the abductor that this was a large sum of money and could not be arranged, and that I needed time till the next morning. Our landlord was with me and helping in the search at that time,” said Sarvesh.Police, on being informed about the calls, traced them and discovered they had originated from Abhishek’s house. Police tracked the SIM card and found it had been bought on a fake id on October 5. However, a 20-second call had been made from the number on the same day. The call had gone to a girl student at Delhi University, who had been befriended by the accused on Facebook . Another SIM card, which belonged to the sister of the accused, had also been used on the same handset.Police interrogated the 17-year-old and he confessed, saying he killed Abhishek after the boy started crying. He told police that after killing the boy, he buried the body. The accused told police he wanted to buy an iPhone for the girl he had befriended, and needed money for this.Mainpuri additional superintendent of police OP Singh said, “A case has been registered under sections 302 ( murder ), 364 A (kidnapping for ransom) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of IPC against the accused, his brother and father, based on the complaint by the victim’s father. All three have been arrested.”Sarvesh said, “The murder could not have been committed without the connivance of the family of the accused. How can a 17-year-old boy kill a 14-year-old, dig a hole and bury the body all by himself? It was a pre-planned murder executed with the help of family members.”
