The process has been delayed.”According to sources, while state government has been emphasizing on ground implementation of the plan on a priority basis, Jal Nigam so far is been able to get NOCs from only the civic bodies of Mathura and Agra . The river cleaning work is to take place in Mathura and Agra.Last year, state government with the assistance of experts prepared a Rs 460- crore plan for purification and conservation of the Yamuna under the central government’s Namami Gange scheme.A senior official of the state urban development directorate said, “Under the Yamuna action plan , a drainage system had to be developed on both sides of the river with a network of sewer pumping stations (SPS) and sewer treatment plants (STP). However, no NOC have been received from five departments — railways, public works department, irrigation department, forest department and Pollution Control Board as the matter has not been pursued by the Agra Jal Nigam.Annoyed with the lackadaisical approach adopted by officials towards state government plan, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on October 10 ordered suspension of the general manager of Agra Jal Nigam, Krishna Gopal Singh, and two other senior officials.Now, Jal Nigam officials are trying to secure the pending NOCs and start ground implementation of the Yamuna purification plan.
