652 firecracker violations reported in 25 West UP districts, 47 in Agra

Agra: Going by the complaints received on November 7 and 8, it can be concluded that most cities across Uttar Pradesh failed to enforce the Supreme Court order to burst firecrackers only within a two-hour window.According to UP 100, an Emergency Management System of Uttar Pradesh Police, as many as 652 calls of alleged firecracker ban violation were received from 25 districts of western Uttar Pradesh on Diwali and Goverdhan Puja.According to data accessed by TOI from UP 100, Agra stood at eight position in the state with a total of 47 complain calls on November 7 and 8. In few other serious cases, the violators were taken to local police station for legal action”It’s worth mentioning here that as per UP 100 Agra, 227 medical distress calls, 21 fire incident calls and 1624 other police emergency calls were also received during the two days.Commenting on the above data, SSP Amit Pathak said, “The violators were warned and instructed to not burst cracker so as to maintain peace.”As many as 1418 calls of alleged firecracker ban violation were received in the entire state during November 7 and 8, according to UP 100 data.

While Lucknow topped the list with 141 complain calls, Ghaziabad was a close second receiving 127 complains.Other major districts of western UP which received a large number of complaints are the following — Gautam Budh Nagar 84, Meerut (72), Aligarh (40), Bulandshahr (26), Moradabad (26), Saharanpur (26), Mathura (21), Muzaffarnagar (18), Bareilly (17), Firozabad (17), Bijnor (14), Shamli (13), Hathras (11), Amroha (11), Badaun (11), Shahjahanpur (11), Kasganj (10), Rampur (10), Baghpat (9), Etah (8), Sambhal (8), Hapur (6), Pilibhit (5), and Mainpuri (4).Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a senior UP police official said, “Most people complained of continuous bursting of crackers, mischievously annoying neighbours, selling crackers without licence , and disturbing peace with loud crackers.”He said, “Strict action was taken in the cases of illegal cracker shops.
