Injured leopard dead in Agra

AGRA: A male leopard, who was seriously injured after being run over by some vehicle near Agra Fort early Tuesday, succumbed to injuries on Wednesday evening.Director - Conservation Projects, Wildlife SOS , Baiju Raj M V told TOI that the leopard’s back had fully collapsed after it was hit by the speeding vehicle. The police immediately informed the forest department and after a two-hour long rescue operation, they took the animal to the hospital for medical intervention. He said, "The condition of the animal was continuously deteriorating and it did not respond to the treatment. "He said, “The wild cat had suffered a traumatic shock due to injuries to the spinal chord, according to the X-ray report.” A post mortem examination was conducted and the leopard was cremated in presence of a panel of veterinarians and forest officials.District forest officer (Agra), Manish Mittal said the CCTV footage of the location where the leopard was found injured, was being scanned to identify the vehicle that hit it.The injured leopard was first noticed by the police while patrolling near the Yamuna bank around 12:30 am on Tuesday.
