Agra: BJP MLA from Agra (North) Jagan Prasad Garg has shot off a letter to chief minister Yogi Adityanath seeking a high court bench in the city. “There was high court in Agra before the country got Independence. A large number of cases of Agra region are pending in Allahabad high court. Therefore, a high court bench should be given to Agra,” the five-term MLA said in the letter. For decades, lawyers in western UP are demanding a high court bench in Meerut.In the letter, the MLA has also sought relief from monkey menace and a shelter home for the simians. The legislator has sent six-point demand letter to the state chief minister. The letter, dated November 25, has been forwarded by the chief minister’s office to Agra district magistrate and vice chairman of the Agra Development Authority (ADA) for further action.He has also demanded the laying of foundation stone for development of a barrage on river Yamuna.Garg said: “I have raised six important issues concerning common people of Agra in the letter to the CM. I have requested him take action on these local issues. I stay among the people and know the real issues of the city. It is my responsibility to pursue public demands with the state government.”“Stray cows roam around on roads in Agra. These result in accidents. Please declare construction of a cow shelter,” reads one of the demands. He has also demanded development of an international airport in Agra.
