500 unregistered hotels hosps get AMC notice

Agra: Agra Municipal Corporation (AMC) administration has send notices to around 500 hotels, hospitals and other unregistered premises operating in the city. For now, notices have been issued providing them a chance to register.”AMC administration is also going to issue notices to unregistered liquor shops operating in the city. Of these, 312 were not registered with AMC. As per norms, each liquor shop has to pay Rs 6,000 as registration fee every year. We will take strict action against the unregistered centres after January.

Agra: Agra Municipal Corporation (AMC) administration has send notices to around 500 hotels, hospitals and other unregistered premises operating in the city. The owners of these premises have been directed to submit registration charges with late fee — 10% of registration charges — by January 28 to avoid legal action.A survey conducted by the AMC had found that there are 527 hotels, guest houses and lodges in the city. Of these, 312 were not registered with AMC. Around 180 hospitals were also found to be unregistered.Last year in November, AMC had deployed teams of revenue inspectors to gather details regarding how long these establishments have been operating, status of their sewer and water connections and house tax slab among other things. The civic body administration had ordered its tax department to determine total outstanding dues of these commercial centres.The investigation revealed that these unregistered commercial establishments had not paid any tax to the civic body since they started operating. The tax department also issued notice to all these centres which have been utilizing civic facilities for commercial purpose without paying tax for the same.Additional municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar said, “All the hotels and hospitals are required to be registered with the municipal corporation. And renew it every year. On basis of the registration, taxes are compounded. We will take strict action against the unregistered centres after January. For now, notices have been issued providing them a chance to register.”AMC administration is also going to issue notices to unregistered liquor shops operating in the city. There are around 300 liquor shop in 100 wards of the city. Out of these, only 10% are registered. As per norms, each liquor shop has to pay Rs 6,000 as registration fee every year.
