Internet suspended for 24 hours in Aligarh following AMU clash

Agra: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC were imposed and internet services ordered suspended for 24 hours in Aligarh district on Wednesday following a clash between groups of students in AMU a day before. Several students were injured in the campus violence.Internet services, district officials said, will be resumed at 12 noon on Thursday after a review of the situation. "They then disrupted communal harmony of the campus by involving outsiders for their vested interests," the statement said.Action by the university was taken on the complaint filed by Imran Khan. The office memo read: “Prima facie it is established that these students have committed acts of indiscipline and misconduct as per AMU rules.”Manish Kumar, who has been suspended on the complaint filed by Imran, filed a counter complaint against the latter. Moreover, these students along with their companions created chaos at Baba E-Syed gate and the university's administration block.
