AKTU to support students with realistic ideas to launch startup

Agra: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University ( AKTU ), formerly Uttar Pradesh Technical University has planned to support students with realistic ideas in launching startups and develop business models.Students will also be supported in exploring self-employment opportunities. Here students of all the colleges affiliated to the varsity can forward their ideas for start-up. Students with self-employment plan will also be supported”.The state technical university has plans to implement the same from the 2019-20 session. Students whose ideas get shortlisted will be supported by university in launching the start-up. We will provide the crucial initial investment to the start-up and adequate consultancy to develop them into a successful business.

The university is already in the process of considering ideas of 2,500 students for start-up.In a press conference organised at Raja Balwant Singh (RBS) Management Technical Campus, Khandari farm, AKTU assistant registrar Ranjeet Singh said, “We have set up a center for innovation and incubation of start-ups. Here students of all the colleges affiliated to the varsity can forward their ideas for start-up. Here a team of experts will test viability of the ideas. Students whose ideas get shortlisted will be supported by university in launching the start-up. We will provide the crucial initial investment to the start-up and adequate consultancy to develop them into a successful business. Students with self-employment plan will also be supported”.The state technical university has plans to implement the same from the 2019-20 session. It is going to start seven new courses, including Bachelor of Vocation (B,Voc) at under graduate level and a dual degree-5 year programme in Bachelor of technology (BTech) plus Master of technology (MTech).For the first time, the university will conduct state-level entrance exam for post graduate courses in technology, pharmacy, design and architecture. It has also established an industry interface cell to provide centralised job placement assistance to the students.Sharing details about the state entrance exam, Director of AKTU’s Institute of Design, Virendra Pathak said, “The joint entrance exam for engineering, management, pharmacy and architecture will be conducted on April 21, 2019. The results will be declared by end the last week of May. Regular classes are targeted to be initiated from July 17 onward. For session 2019-20, University administration has decided to provide laptop to 200 meritorious female students”.BBS Parihar, director of RBS Management campus said, “University administration has taken a major decision that 20 percent seats in all the courses will be reserved for students outside UP. This will help large number of students of other states to take admission in their dream course in UP”.BS Kushwah, director of the RBS Engineering campus said, “Taking cognizance of the issue of some of the students from rural areas facing inconvenience in computer based entrance exam, university administration has made the process offline. Now the exam will get question paper and have to mark answers on OMR sheet”.
