Agra: An Agra police constable posted in CO policeline office was arrested on Thursday, after he was found involved in forging SSP Agra signature to allot government accommodations to fellow colleagues on the pretext of hefty sum.Identified as Constable Kaushal Kumar who hails from Etah district, was posted as clerk with Agra police since 2017 and allegedly charged upto Rs 35,000 for government accommodation allotment approval letter.After internal probe called by SSP Amit Pathak, the accused was found guilty and was booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of documents), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged documents) at Rakabaganj police station.Speaking to TOI, Vinay Kumar, Reserve Inspector of Agra policeline who lodged the FIR against accused constable, said, “The matter came to light after I visited SSP office for his signature to cancel a government accommodation allotment of a constable. But I was surprised to know, that for last one year, all approval or rejection of accommodation was done by CO policeline and not SSP. During probe it was further found, that at least three more constables were allotted accommodation based on SSP Agra Amit Pathak’s forge signature.”He said, “After the revelation, the accused constable Kaushal Kumar who was responsible for handling the accommodation files was questioned and it was found that he forged SSP signature to allot government quarters to fellow colleagues on the pretext of money.”All the allotments made on SSP Agra forge signatures were immediately revoked. The accused constable too was sent to jail. The probe against other cops who received accommodation is still underway.
