AGRA: While the Aligarh Police are still groping in the dark on the sedition charges that it earlier slapped on 14 AMU students with no "crucial evidence" at hand, another case of attempt to murder and rioting was registered against four AMU students, two of them named in the earlier case as well, and some others on Thursday night.However, the police have not slapped sedition charges in the fresh FIR even though allegations of anti-national slogans being raised by these students has been made in the complaint.The FIR was registered on the complaint of BJP media in-charge of Aligarh unit, Nishit Sharma, who alleged that AMU Students’ Union Secretary Huzaifa Amir, former union secretary Nadeem Ansari, Nabeel USMANI, Farukh Lodhi and a few others, including ex-student Saddam Hussain and some unidentified persons, had assaulted him and his associate, Shailendra Singh.Interestingly, Nishit Sharma has also alleged that the accused were shouting anti-national and pro-Pak slogans, as was alleged in the earlier complaint of BJP Yuva Morcha district president Manoj Lodhi. The police have, however, not imposed 'sedition' charges this time.SSP Akash Kulhari told TOI that prima facie no evidence has been found relating to the sedition charges in the previous FIR, but investigations are still on and the charges stand as of now. On being asked why the charges have not been imposed in the fresh case, he said that since there is no primary evidence to support the allegations of sedition made in the earlier complaint, we have been cautious this time.In his complaint, Nishit has claimed that the accused had allegedly fired at him and his associates when he reached the AMU circle after receiving a call from Hindu students of the varsity.The previous FIR was registered on the basis of the complaint filed by BJP Yuva Morcha district president, Mukesh Lodhi, who claimed that anti-national slogans were raised by the accused students after an altercation. The complaint was given against 14 students, including, AMU students union president Salman Imtiaz, vice-president Humza Sufyan, secretary Hufaiza Aamir, former president of the union Maskoor Ahmed, former secretary Nadeem Ansari and other unidentified students.Meanwhile, another FIR has been registered against AMU’s LLM student Ajay Singh, who is a grandson of Aligarh BJP MLA Dalveer Singh, Aligarh BJP media Incgarge Nishit Sharma and six others on the complaint of the university’s security in-charge.
