Agra: A 29-year-old woman was allegedly raped on Wednesday morning by Ashok Yadav, a former revenue and tourism minister of the Uttar Pradesh government in 1999.The incident took place at around 7:30 am at the Yadav's guest house (Royal Garden) situated on station road, under the jurisdiction of Shikohabad police station. The leader has been charged under IPC sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation). After the incident, the ex-MLA from Shikohabad was found absconding when police team led by CO Ajay Singh Chauhan and acting SHO Ashok Yadav raided the premises.Speaking to TOI, the victim’s husband said, “On Tuesday night we (husband & wife) were introduced to Ashok Yadav at a wedding ceremony organised at his Royal garden guest-house. The wedding was of our distant relative’s brother. After attending the wedding, we left for our home by 10 pm. On Wednesday morning at around 5:40 am, Ashok Yadav called on my wife’s phone number and asked her to visit guest-house as soon as possible on the pretext of a post wedding emergency situation.”“When my wife reached the guest-house there was no one there except Ashok Yadav. He forced her inside a room and raped her. Later he threatened her with dire consequences if the matter was reported to the police,” the victim’s spouse said.Talking to TOI, acting SHO of Shikohabad Ashok Yadav said, “The medical report of the victim mentions injury mark on her chest, back and abdomen area. Raids are been conducted to arrest him.”Meanwhile, police have also lodged an FIR against the ex-UP minister for extortion in a separate case.On Tuesday evening, a local trader Ankit Agrawal alleged that Ashok Yadav and his men threatened him with dire consequences when he was heading home, if he did not give up his land. The police have filed an FIR against Yadav under sections 386 of the IPC (extortion by putting a person in fear of death).Speaking to TOI, Agrawal said, “Ex-minister has been pressurising me to handover my ancestral land to him which is located right beside his guest-house. Earlier on February 11, his men assaulted me when I rejected his offer, after which I filed an FIR. But again on Tuesday evening, he threatened to kill me if I did not withdraw FIR and accepts the terms laid out.”The police are on the lookout for Yadav in the rape and extortion case.In 2015, Yadav has been booked on serious charges of rioting, attempt to murder and house trespass following a shoot-out between him and his nephew over a property dispute.
