Agra: A teacher on Monday found a Rs 100 note tied with a thread inside pages of the Hindi answer sheet of a UP board student at RBS Inter College evaluation centre. The teacher, who did not wish to be named, was not the only one to find money while checking UP Board exam papers. Such cases are frequently surfacing at four of Agra’s evaluation centres, where intermediate exam papers are being checked.According to the teacher, the student had attempted to answer very few questions and mostly copied the questions in his answer sheet. Examinees often attach cash in their answer sheets and instead of answers, write pleas to the examiner to make them pass in return of the money.According to evaluators, students often write their phone numbers, proposing to “make a deal” with them. Contents of answer sheets, apart from actual answers, range from life stories, scriptures, comic lines to Bollywood songs. A teacher said the money they get from the answer sheets is spent on “tea and snacks”.The in-charge of an evaluation center said, “Most of these cases appear in answer sheets of Math and English. However, for students who haven’t bothered to study, all exams are the same.”A senior teacher, who did not want to be named, said, “You might have heard students complaining about questions in an exam being ‘out of syllabus’. However, teachers will tell you that the things some examinees write in their answer sheets have nothing at all to do with the syllabus.”
