Election flying squad attacked in Etah for stopping car

The six-member team of election flying squad was led by designated magistrate Shivraj Singh.Speaking to TOI, Singh said, “The assailants were traveling in a car with black film windows. The five assailants in the car rained punches and hurled casteist remarks on a constable who is a Dalit. Our team has launched a hunt to nab the absconding accused.” He added that constable Khadak Singh and Shyam Kumar were assaulted by gang. He is history-sheeter with at least five attempt to murder cases registered against him, apart from other criminal charges. When they were asked to stop the vehicle at the check-point, they attempted to flee, but after a brief chase by two constables gang were waylaid.

AGRA: An election flying squad was attacked by a group of eight men, including a history-sheeter, when their car was asked to stop for checking near Etah-Mainpuri border as it had a black film on the windows.The incident took place around 4 pm on Tuesday evening near Bhanaugate bridge on Aliganj Road under the jurisdiction of the Jasrathpur police. The five assailants in the car rained punches and hurled casteist remarks on a constable who is a Dalit. Later three more men on motor-bike attacked our team and fled.”Following the attack, police was informed about the incident and an FIR was registered against the eight men who were identified as Abhay Pratap alias Mohan, Akshay Singh, Jayant Singh, Samaniya, Ramu, Sumit, Arvind and Gaurav Singh.All of them have been booked under IPC sections 147 (riot), 148 (riot with armed weapons), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 307 (attempt to murder), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and ST/SCT Act along with 7 Criminal Law Amendment Act.Five hours later, police arrested Jayant and his brother Akshay Singh from Dhatengra village.Superintendent of police, Etah , Swapnil Mamgain said, “The gang leader who assaulted and hurled casteist remark against the constable is Abhay Pratap Singh. He is history-sheeter with at least five attempt to murder cases registered against him, apart from other criminal charges. Our team has launched a hunt to nab the absconding accused.” He added that constable Khadak Singh and Shyam Kumar were assaulted by gang.
