Not joining hands with us Priyanka’s biggest mistake: Shivpal

Jasrana (Firozabad): Pragatisheel Samajwadi party (Lohia) chief Shivpal Singh Yadav said on Friday that the Congress under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi had made its “biggest mistake by not entering into an alliance with them”.“We could have kept the BJP from winning the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh had the Indian National Congress formed an alliance with us. Priyanka Gandhi made her biggest mistake,” he said while speaking to TOI, during his poll campaign in Jasrana area of Firozabad district.Pragatisheel Samajwadi party (Lohia) will contest on 79 seats across UP, but is not fielding candidate in Mainpuri where SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav is contesting.Shivpal Singh said, “Netaji is supreme. I cannot go against him. But I’m sad that he did not join PSPL to contest from Mainpuri, but I know he will support me.”When asked to comment on the BSP-SP alliance, Shivpal said, “It’s a worthless alliance.”Later addressing a gathering in Shambunagar locality of Shikohabad, Shivpal said, “Only BSP will gain from the alliance, while the grand Samajwadi Party will suffer losses due to its terrible decisions.”Shivpal, who received a fair welcome from supporters in Shikohabad and Jasrana, addressed small crowds in localities and hamlets.In a break from the family tradition, Shivpal Yadav gave a miss to the festivities at SP patriarch's house and instead celebrated the festival along with his family and well-wishers separately at the SS college at Saifai in Etawah on Thursday.Members of the Yadav clan descend every year at the ancestral house of the SP patriarch, seek his blessings and play Holi.Family sources said that though Shivpal met elder brother MSY at the latter's newly constructed house at Civil Lines area early on Thursday and sought his blessings.
