Kalyan Singh unhappy with Aligarh MP’s renomination?

Since becoming the MP, Gautam has been a vocal critic of the AMU and its style of functioning. Even Singh’s son and Etah MP Rajveer Singh did not meet Gautam.Though opposition against Gautam has been building ever since his renomination, he seems unnerved. He was behind various controversies that rocked the AMU in the recent past, including the row over Jinnah’s portrait in the campus. Agra: Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh , on Saturday, is said to have expressed displeasure over BJP’s decision to renominate sitting MP, Satish Gautam, from Aligarh.While interacting with party workers, who had gathered at his house to protest against the allotment of ticket to Gautam, Singh agreed that the MP’s performance has not been good. “He never even visited Atrauli [Singh’s residence in the area] or work for the people,” said Singh, adding that he would not like to comment further on the issue because of the constitutional post he holds.

However, he advised the workers to have patience.Singh, a former UP CM and veteran BJP leader, has apparently made his reservations against Gautam clear as he did not meet him when the latter visited his house after the announcement of his candidature. Even Singh’s son and Etah MP Rajveer Singh did not meet Gautam.Though opposition against Gautam has been building ever since his renomination, he seems unnerved. “Those who are protesting are outsiders and have no base,” he said while claiming that the party’s rank and file are with him.On being asked about the snub from Singh, Gautam said that “governor sahib wasn’t well and hence couldn’t meet him”.Gautam had won the seat in the last Lok Sabha elections by defeating BSP candidate Dr Arvind Kumar Singh by a margin of nearly 3 lakh votes.
