Expect improved water quality in Trans Yamuna this summer

Moreover, one of the two 90 million liter per day (MLD) raw water treatment plants at the station has already been rejuvenated. After this, operation of the 90 MLD treatment plant which has been recently rejuvenated under the Gangajal Project will be initiated.”At present, the area connected to Jeevani Mandi water works station - including entire Trans Yamuna locality, Belanganj, Tajganj and Balkeshwar - are getting poor quality water supply.

Agra: Ahead of the blistering summer months, Trans Yamuna and several parts of the city connected with the Jeevani Mandi water works station are likely to receive better quality of water supply from next month.The main water storage facility, Hudson tank, is being cleaned after several years. It will take around two weeks to complete the cleaning work. Moreover, one of the two 90 million liter per day (MLD) raw water treatment plants at the station has already been rejuvenated. It is now ready for operation.According to Jal Sansthan records, the Hudson tank at Jeevani Mandi water works station which is used for water storage for household supply had not been cleaned for eight years. The tank’s base gathered a thick layer of silt which is now being cleaned.The Jal Sansthan is cleaning the tank as through it the raw water will be supplied to the recently rejuvenated 90 MLD water works station. Silt mixed in water could have damaged the treatment plant.General Manager of Jal Sansthan RS Yadav said, “The cleaning of the Hudson tank will be completed by first week of April. After this, operation of the 90 MLD treatment plant which has been recently rejuvenated under the Gangajal Project will be initiated.”At present, the area connected to Jeevani Mandi water works station - including entire Trans Yamuna locality, Belanganj, Tajganj and Balkeshwar - are getting poor quality water supply.
