Later in the night, raids were conducted and 12 men involved in violence were nabbed. The man died soon after.The mob was so aggressive that CO Jalesar Ramniwas and other policemen hid themselves in nearby houses. They vandalised three police vehicles, including mine which was set ablaze.”Ramniwas added that he and five other policemen suffered minor injuries.

Six policemen, including the CO, were injured in the attack.Violence erupted in Awagadh area after a youth injured in a road accident succumbed to injuries on Etah-Bareilly highway.According to superintendent of police, Etah, Swapnil Mamgain, “We are also considering invoking National Security Act and Gangster Act against the men involved in the violence. Video footage of the violence is being scanned to identify the absconding accused.”According to police, on Friday evening, around 80-100 men armed with stones and lathis attacked policemen after a UP roadways bus hit a motorcycle rider, identified as Balveer (35), near Baiganavad ki pulia. The man died soon after.The mob was so aggressive that CO Jalesar Ramniwas and other policemen hid themselves in nearby houses. Later, after police backup arrived, the unruly crowd was dispersed. It took nearly an hour before the mob could be quelled.Speaking with TOI, CO Ramniwas said, “We were there to help the victim but some miscreants provoked the crowd and suddenly stones were rained on us. They vandalised three police vehicles, including mine which was set ablaze.”Ramniwas added that he and five other policemen suffered minor injuries. Later in the night, raids were conducted and 12 men involved in violence were nabbed. The team is searching for other men who are absconding, the CO added.According to police, 12 men identified as Jaipal, Deepak, Rakesh, Lokesh, Rajveer, Laxmi Narayan, Devesh, Digambar, Laxmi Narayan II, Amrit Jaatav, Vidyaram and Dharamveer Singh were booked under IPC sections 147 (riot), 148 (riot with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 307 (attempt to murder), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).
